Boho chic

A mélange of rich cultural backgrounds with a modern twist- these latest prints have got the fashion world going gaga over them. Originating from Mexico, designers have adopted these prints incorporating them into their latest collections. Although, these prints made their first debut in 2009 for Matthew Williamson’s Spring/Summer collection, they’ve only recently taken over the fashion world.
With bright and bold colours being all the rage this season, its no wonder Aztec prints fit right in. It induces a Bohemian sense of style yet lending itself to ultra chic-ness. Much like, style icon Serena Van Der Woodsen.

For me this trend makes a statement in itself –with its abstract designs mixed with geometrical structures and an assortment of colour, you really need not worry about accessorizing. But, if you must, then I’d suggest going with something as rooted as the print itself. Try tribal inspired jewellery and keep it to its minimum. Even chunky, tainted gold pieces would work perfectly well with Aztec prints.

You know the thing that I love most about Aztec prints, is that, not only has it influenced every area of a woman’s wardrobe but, it has also been incorporated in subtle ways into mens wear. How awesome is that!? Now it’s not only the women who can be stylish!

Aztec prints have a special appeal to our Indian sensibilities- given its close relate-ability- and have been seen on the runways of Lakme fashion week, Winter/Festive collections ‘12.

Aztec need not necessarily be sported on clothing alone

I believe the best trends are the most versatile ones, ones that can be followed without limiting themselves only to clothing and gives us scope to experiment- for what is style without experimentation?
