Meet hollywood's favorite photographer!

Alright, so in this post I'm going to talk about Hollywood's so called favorite photographer who sparks controversies with every single shoot of his. He's shot with celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Shanae Grimes, Demi Lovato and the list is endless. Each of his pictures is a work of art, trust me. And the man of the hour is, Tyler Shields!!
Tyler Shields began his photography career by posting on Myspace. His work often involves splattered blood. He's best known for collecting blood from 20 celebrites to make a piece of art for an exhibit of his from Los Angeles. Shocked? Maybe that's the reaction he was going for.
He recently sparked a huge controversy with his latest shoot with girlfriend Francesca Eastwood. Why? Well, in this particular shoot, he burned a Birkin bag and ran a chainsaw through it. For all of you who don't know what a Birkin bag is, it's the most sought after bag in the world, there's even a waiting list for it. And sometimes, it's price can go above $100,000(That's Rs 55 Lakhs for us indians).
He's been severely criticized for wasting such a huge deal of money whereas it could be put to better use, which I agree to. Some say it could feed the homeless, some say that they would have kept the bag for themselves. He's even been getting death treats :O But he maintains that it's all for art. Tyler has in fact in a way voiced his opinion on the luxury consumer culture, and the way people overvalue a bag which is, in his words, "no different from a bag you get at the grocery store—you carry sh-t in it."
My opinion is, Let's cut the guy some slack, everyone's entitled to their own opinion and he was trying to voice his. After all, it IS his own money. And the photographs in my opinion, do look fantastic.

And here are some amazing pictures from his other shoots :

In the end, I admire his work. What do you think about this whole Birkin bag destruction controversy? Let me know in the comments!

Never hide.

Yes, I know 'Never hide' is Ray-ban's iconic tagline and even though I'm not here to talk about sunglasses  today, it does really relate to this post. I swear.
Basically, I used to be one of those girls starving, running more than my legs can take, looking away from a chocolate cake when all I wanted was to hungrily gobble it down and obsessing about weight loss to no end. I guess it stems from the popular belief that skinny is beautiful, which btw, I now realize is utter nonsense. And no, I'm not going to verbally bash up thin girls. This isn't one of those popular skinny vs curvy article, it's much deeper than that.
From a long time, celebrities bigger than a size 10 were called fat and ugly. Having a little ass was a crime. Curvy women were made to feel like it's gross to have a little meat on your bones. Why this unhealthy discrimination? It's trash talk like this that makes us unsure about our bodies. Everyday thousands of girls starve themselves wanting to fit into the glamourous category. There are so many extremely anorexic and bulimic girls, it's a pity. It's not their fault, we're the ones to blame.
I recently saw a post where regular women with a little cellulite were called beautiful and trust me, they did look gorgeous. But my happiness was instantly crushed by a comment by some guy that said anything beyond a 26 waist is unacceptable and women are required to lose weight otherwise they should be prepared to end up alone. Dafuq?
Thankfully, the world isn't filled with people like him. Society is now promoting plus sized models from sizes 12-18 and curvy celebrities have established the fact that having some cellulite doesn't make you ugly.  Does anyone here disagree with me when I say these women below are sexy?

I'm very definitely a woman and I enjoy it. Marilyn Monroe was the real sex symbol. With that perfect hourglass figure and that amazing personality, she is an inspiration to thousands of women.

Kim Kardashian says, '' I have cellulite, but which curvy woman doesn't? My weight doesn't define who I am.'' True that!

Christina Hendricks from Mad Men says, ''I love my body as it is. People in the industry have been telling me to lose weight for years but I like the way I look''.

Crystal Renn is one of the most famous plus size models in the business. But surprise! She used to be super skinny. She says, ''I couldn't walk another step without being exhausted, or having hair clumps falling out." She knew she needed to live in the body she was supposed to have — specifically a curvy size 12''.

Kate Winslet showed off her smoking hot curves in a Stella Mccartney number and she looks gorgeous!

We need to go past the theory of body shape and size and truly love people for who they are. Let's stop being shallow and appreciate beauty in all forms. I'm 5.5'' and I weigh 145 pounds. Sure, I'm overweight but so what, I'm finally comfortable in my own body and it feels great! No matter whether you're a size 2 or a size 12, you are sexy! Let's not hide anymore because of what people say, Let's be confident and show the world how amazing we truly are!

Heavily crushing on Tangerine.

Hello there stylish chicas! I was asked to write about my current favorite trend and I knew that exact moment what I wanted to write about. It’s a flavor not just for the season, but popular fashion houses and the best designers have already incorporated this trend in their collections. Declared by Pantone as the color of the year! Any Guesses?? J
It’s the Tangerine Tango! Tangerine is one shade that I have gone completely crazy over. And this goes back to as early as the winters last year when I spotted a bright orange casual linen shirt and I never looked back. My-always-overflowing-but-can-never-find- the-right-things-when-I-want closet now comprises of a bandage dress, shades, neckpiece, a cotton dual orange hued dress and it goes on and on..

Tangerine Tango is undoubtedly the must have ensemble in your wardrobe, and this can include anything ranging from an oversized clutch to an orange satchel, from neckpieces to skirts or even a pair of orange rim aviators. Wear it for glam night out with friends, a brunch date with your special one or a beach vacation! Pair tangerine with ink blue, white, black, green or color block it with red or even magenta! And No I am not kidding when I say a party dress in tangerine! Trust me, I wouldn’t be surprised if designers came up with LOD’S (Little orange dresses) and when that day comes, I’m going to gloat! :D

Here are two great looks using tangerine key pieces -

And here's where to find some citrus-induced fashion goods :

You will know what I mean to say when I hit the city with the coolest tangerine rimmed aviators. Anyway, how would you wear this trend? Let me know in the comments! Meanwhile, Let’s all get citrusy!

DIY - Glitter sandals

Okay people, you are going to love this one if you're a fan of sparkly glittery things! We wanted a way to improvise our old boring sandals into something spectacular and yes, we found one! It's so inexpensive, it literally cost us 33 bucks! Seriously!
Let me tell you how it all started. I saw these stunning flats online at J-Crew and fell in love with it. Simplistic design, and the glitter strap demands your attention instantly. Now for the price tag, 98 dollars! That's around 5 grand! So we found a way to do it in less than 50 bucks. :D

 J-crew glitter sandals

My version

Materials required :

1) Your choice of Sandals (Mine is a year old pair from Catwalk).
2) Gold or silver powdered glitter(10 grams for Rs 8 , I used only 5 gms for 2 pairs of sandals)
3) Clear transparent glue( Rs 5)
4) Clear transparent nail polish (Mine was for Rs 20)

Method :

1) Clean your sandals if they're old like mine. :P

2) Apply glue over the strap you want to improvise.

3) Sprinkle the glitter and then dust off the extra after a minute or so.

4) Once dry, apply a coat of transparent nail polish generously all over the strap. Once dry.

And voila, you have a brand new pair of glittery sandals! Take that, J-crew!

What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments! :D

DIY - Chain link flip flops!

Hello everyone :)
So, I wanted to show you guys something which you can make on your own. Basically, I'm a huge fan of flip-flops. I hardly wear anything apart from them. They're so inexpensive and comfortable!
Anyway, I wanted a pair of flip flops that looked frisky, sorta dangerous looking. Wait, biker-ish. Actually, I can't quite find a word for it, so I'll show you guys the pictures.

Materials required :
1) Flip flops of your choice ( Got these from Lokhandwala, Mumbai),
2) Chain link (Available at any lace/embellishment shop),
P.S - This one is from Lokhandwala, let me know if you need their address.
3) Large needle,
4) Thread matching the color of your flip flop.

Procedure :
It's quite simple, you just need to place the chain on the strap and stitch. I haven't stitched every node per se, just a few so that the chain stays in place.

First, thread the needle onto the strap from below and place the chain on it.

Next, thread the needle from the next onto the next chain link and pull from the bottom.

Keep stitching, eventually you will reach halfway and then keep going till the entire strap is covered with the chain.

AND VOILA! You've got yourself a pair of killer flip flops! Try it in various colors, like red or mint flip flops with gold chain link. Let your creativity flow! And do send us the pics. Also leave us a comment :)

Mini or Maxi? Why not both?

There was a time when mini dresses and skirts were everywhere, there was also a time when we all ditched our minis for our maxis. Now, lets ditch our minis and maxis for a unique combination of the two. Presenting to you, the high-low or the mullet dress!

Left to right : Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, Khloe Kardashian, Jessica Alba and Miley Cyrus.

Aren't these dresses so goddamn beautiful? I wonder why designers didn't think of it earlier. :P
Now the best part about it, it suits almost all body types! Since it's flowy, it hides bulk and since its cinched just below the bust, it gives an hourglass effect. Finally a dress that looks amazing on us curvy girls :D
Anyway, we loved this look so much that we had to replicate it. So thanks to our talented photographer and our beautiful model, we were able to do our little rendition of the mullet dress!

So minty, so fresh.

Hello you guys! So, this is our very first post and we're going to tell you how to wear the season's hottest color, mint green.

Left to right : Brooklyn Decker, Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Kaley Cuoco, Eva Amuri and Lindsay Lohan

ABOUT MINT :

As you probably know, mint green has conquered over the fashion world in a big way. Celebrities are flaunting this magnificent colour, some of the biggest brands have incorporated it into their collections and also, Pantone has named it the colour to look forward to in 2012. Well, to tell you the truth, it has climbed into our brains and made us dizzy too! Mint green in my opinion, is a colour you cannot go wrong with. It suits all skin tones(yes, indian skin tone too!) and can be dressed up or down, day or night. You can wear mint in the form of tops, dresses, blazers or pants. And if you're too shy to wear mint in such an obvious way, you can wear mint accessories! say hello to mint jewelry, bags and nail polishes!

HOW TO WEAR IT :

There are endless ways of incorporating mint into your outfit. Either wear mint with black so that it really stands out or go crazy with a mint and coral combination. Beware, the second option is risky and requires lots of confidence to carry off. But if your up for it, there's nothing like it. Also, gold looks really really stunning with mint, so you can wear eye-catching golden jewelry with it.
Here are two looks created by us.

LOOK NO 1 :

LOOK NO 2:

WHERE TO FIND IT :

Mint has been included to the Zara and Mango collections in a major way and if you don't mind shopping online, there's always asos.com :)
